If anyone is in the market for a new NXT set, I just came across NXT kits on sale at
hungates.com. The price, not including shipping, is $227.99. The company has a 97% positive rating on Amazon, and has retail outlets (Creative Toys and Hobbies) located in North Carolina and Virginia. It looks like they have eight kits in stock, as of right now. (On the other hand, you can buy one online from the Discovery Store for $275.00—only $25 for shipping!)

Big deal, I got my NXT for $190 USD at a desperate hobby shop.
cheerios for you will but the post is still useful and a big deal to some of us. why do some commenters just have to be negative???
Will, if you know any place selling the NXT for $190 these days, be sure to let us know. I actually got my kit for $180 a couple of years ago, but have never seen anything like it again.
For those who have patience, or are looking for a 2nd kit, then I suggest waiting for Barne's and Noble to have a Mastercard sale again.
I was able to pick up an NXT by joining their site for $20, using a Mastercard for the purchase and getting the set @ 50% off. It's some kind of MC promo there. 50% off the highest ticket item. In the end it was $109 + shipping.
They're as low as $225+shipping on brickLink.
Anonymous - you bought the NXT through B&N?
LEGOmom
Yes, I did. I'm in Canada and B&N is one of the few US sites that ships toys up here. We're severely gouged for the NXT set at retail price here ($325 CDN), so when B&N has that Mastercard promotion, a lot of people cash in on it.
However...I see that maybe TOO many people have cashed in. It's no longer on the B&N site anymore....
