Methinks that pbLua has gradually matured into a state where you reasonably might use it for programming real and complex NXT robots.

I think it's time to start evaluating alternate languages. Unfortunately, the FLL restricts the language choice, so if I do get to run a FLL team this year, I think we will be using NXT-G.
But I want to try pbLua... sounds like a good program.
